FINANCIAL TIMES ON TRUMP ENDORSING ITALY’S GIORGIA MELONI, AND HER BOOK
Marco Vicenzino is Prime Minister Meloni‘s agent who spearheaded and concluded her two-book contract.
(Financial Times) Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, now looks set for a boost after Trump urged his millions of social media followers to buy the US edition of her autobiography, writes Amy Kazmin.
CONTEXT: Meloni’s book, I am Giorgia: My Roots, My Principles, was published in May 2022 when she was still in opposition, and became a bestseller in Italy. It has since been translated in several countries including India, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote a foreword, and this summer in the US.
Though Meloni trumpets traditional family values, her book recounts how she was raised by a single mother and felt like a social outsider after her father abandoned the family. She also recalls finding true community as a teenager joining a far-right youth movement, many of whose activists also had troubled home lives
Trump admires Meloni, who he described as “beautiful,” “incredible” and a “very successful politician” when the two met in Egypt on Monday (13 October) at the signing of the Gaza peace agreement.
On 14 October, Trump plugged her autobiography on his Truth Social platform. He said the book, which includes a foreword by his son Donald Jr., “explores her journey of Faith, Family and Love of Country, which gave her the Wisdom and Courage to serve her nation and make her people proud . . .
